Kalua Pork Pizza
"Pizza doesn't need to be complicated. Sometimes just five ingredients can create big, bold flavors like sweet, tangy Maika`i Kansas City BBQ Sauce and savory Kalua Pork. It's a perfect lazy Friday dinner or a game night snack to share with your friends and family." -Jamaica C., Foodland Ambassador (Instagram: @lusciousgrubs)

Ingredients
Maika`i Kansas City BBQ Sauce, 1/2 Cup
Pillsbury Pizza Crust, 1 Pack
May's Shredded Kalua Pork, 1 Cup
Creamy Melt Mozzarella Cheese, 1 Cup
Red Onion, 1/2 Onion
Optional garnish: Green Onions
Optional garnish: Hawaiian Sea Salt
Directions

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Maika`i Kansas City BBQ Sauce
  • 1 pack Pillsbury pizza crust (or your preferred pizza crust)
  • 1 cup May's shredded kalua pork
  • 1 cup creamy melt shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • Optional garnish: thinly-sliced green onions
  • Optional garnish: pinch of Hawaiian Alaea sea salt

Directions:

  1. Follow your pizza crust prep instructions. Preheat oven at the temperature suggested on the packaging. Unroll dough onto a cookie sheet and form the desired thickness and shape. Prebake dough, if needed.
  2. Spread the Maika`i Kansas City BBQ Sauce evenly in a thin layer using a spatula. You can use as much or as little as you'd like.
  3. Top with creamy melt shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by the shredded kalua pork. Make sure to disperse it evenly across.
  4. Top with thinly-sliced red onions.
  5. Continue to bake with all the toppings at the temperature suggested on your pizza crust packaging - which is usually 12-15 minutes or until the pizza crust is dark golden brown. Make sure that the cheese is melted and the toppings are cooked through.
  6. Take it out of the oven and sprinkly a pinch of Hawaiian Alaea Salt and thinly-sliced green onions on top of the pizza. Serve, slice, and enjoy!
